Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of church is Reliance Church?

Reliance Church is a Christian church in Temecula, California, centered on the gospel of Jesus Christ and the truth of God’s Word. Our mission is to lead people to know, love, and serve Jesus. We believe the Bible is the inspired and authoritative Word of God, and we want everything we do as a church to flow from it.

Is Reliance Church a Non-Denominational Church?

Yes. Reliance Church is a non-denominational church in Temecula. While we are a fully independent church and are not part of a larger denominational organization, our roots go back to the Calvary Chapel Movement. We hold to the historic doctrines of orthodox evangelical Christianity and place a strong emphasis on the expositional teaching of Scripture, the work of the Holy Spirit, worship, fellowship, and serving one another.

Where Can I park?

We know parking is limited here, especially for the 9:45am service so we appreciate your flexibility as we get everyone on the campus safely. Parking is available in our lots, along Santiago Road, and next door (to the East) at Van Avery Prep and Kid’s World Preschool.

To best love our neighbors, we ask that you refrain from parking in Redeemer Bible Church’s lot; and be especially courteous to the homes across the street in Rancho Highlands.

What should I expect when I visit Reliance Church?

Come as you are! Our friendly parking attendants and greeters will guide you to your spot and answer any questions you may have. Grab a cup of free drip coffee, or stop by the special coffee cart for delicious espresso drinks, matcha, and kombucha! You can find a seat in our main sanctuary, in the lobby, or enjoy the Southern California weather and watch the service in our shaded courtyard with TV’s. Our services are fairly casual and include contemporary worship and a message taught from the Bible. We close the service with communion and more worship songs. The total service length is about an hour and 15 minutes.

If you have kids, our team can help you find the children’s check-in area and get your family where you need to go.

We’d love to meet you and help you get connected.

What is the preaching like at Reliance Church?

We are committed to teaching God’s Word clearly and faithfully. You’ll find our teaching pastors have their own unique styles but all are gifted teachers and preachers. We believe in the value of expositional teaching, meaning the aim is uncover (“expose”)  the meaning of the passage as the author(s) originally intended, rather than pull generic lessons or insights from scripture without context. We also emphasize personal application and we end each sermon with 3-5 Reflection Questions for you jot down and pray through as you go about your week   A typical sermon is about 35-40 minutes.

If you’d like to get a feel for our teaching before visiting, you can browse our sermon library and watch past messages.

Does Reliance Church teach the Bible?

Absolutely. God’s Word is central to who we are as a church. We believe the Bible is the inspired, infallible Word of God, and we place a high value on sound doctrine and teaching Scripture in a way that can be understood and applied to everyday life. We like to say that “we don’t teach from the Bible, we teach the Bible!”

Our Sunday morning services typically work through of book of the Bible chapter-by-chapter and verse-by-verse, with an emphasis on understanding what Scripture says and applying it to our lives. As we teach the whole Bible, that means we don’t skip over uncomfortable topics or passages, or miss out on what God might have for us.

What should I wear?

Whatever you’re comfortable wearing. You’ll see people in shorts and sandals, jeans and a T-shirt, or “Sunday best” and just about everything in between. Our church tends to dress fairly casually, so please don’t feel the pressure to “dress up” to come to church.

Does Reliance Church have programs for kids?

Yes. Reliance Kids is for children from birth through 5th grade during all three Sunday morning services. Our goal is more than simply providing childcare, we want kids to know God’s Word, know Jesus personally, learn to pray and worship, and grow in their faith in a safe and welcoming environment.

We also have a Midweek program on Wednesday nights for ages TK-5th grade. Kids will worship, learn God’s Word, play games, and memorize scripture in this fun-filled and energetic night!

We know that kids aren’t the “future” of the church, they are the church now! Our loving Children’s Ministry Team is committed to coming alongside parents to raise kids who know, love, and serve Jesus. Lear more about Reliance Kids here.

Does Reliance Church have a youth ministry for students?

Yes. Our Next Gen Department serves Jr. High, High School, and Young Adult students. Jr. High students have their own Sunday service at all 3 service times, while high schoolers and young adults are encouraged to join in main sanctuary.

Throughout the week, Jr. High and High School meet on Wednesday nights for fellowship, worship, Bible study, and small groups. Young Adults meet Tuesday nights to grow in community, discipleship, and closer to Jesus. Our student ministries are designed to help students grow in their faith, build meaningful relationships, serve others, and take their next steps in following Jesus.

Are there small groups or Home Groups at Reliance Church?
