At Reliance Church, we believe that we are all called to serve both inside and outside of our church walls. Mark 10:45 says, “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.” We follow in Jesus’ footsteps every week and have many areas for you to do the same no matter what your availability might be. We’ve taken the time to list just a few of the ways you can serve below. We encourage you to read through this list and apply to serve in the area that you believe best fits your giftings.
Set Up & Tear Down Team
Our Set Up & Tear Down teams are comprised of dozens of faithful men and women that set up the entire church every single week. From setting up communion, coffee stations, the courtyard, or just putting out chairs, it takes quite a few hands to pull everything off. This team quite literally lays the foundation for the Gospel to be proclaimed to hundreds of people every week.
Connect Team
If you are gifted in administration, organization, or are merely outgoing, the Connection Center is a fantastic way to use your gift to further God’s kingdom. The Connection Center is most visitors first experience at our church and we want to make sure it’s a good one! Share important information about growth groups, bible studies, upcoming classes or events, or just have a conversation and get to know someone new!
Greeters & Ushers Team
Like the Connection Center, those who serve as Greeters and Ushers are often the first interaction a new visitor will have while visiting Reliance. Our desire is that everyone who walks into our doors would feel welcome, cared for, and loved so that they might join us in worship the Lord and learning from His Word. If you would rather call the church office and talk to someone to find out where you can serve, this is probably the place!
Reliance Kids Team
The Reliance Kids Team is one of the largest servant groups at our church. It’s also one of our most secure teams, meaning a background check will be required. Don’t let that deter you from serving in this truly amazing ministry! Click the button below and find out how you can use your love for children to share the heart of Jesus with each and every family that visits our church!
Technical Arts Team
Servants on the Technical Arts team are tasked with operating all of our audio, video, and lighting systems so that the congregation can worship God and learn about the Bible in an environment sans distraction. We succeed when people forget we are there and can enter into an honest time of worship and spiritual growth. No experience needed, we’ll train you on our systems and set you up with everything you need to excel!
Worship Team
The first recorded example of worship is in the book of Exodus after God delivers the Israelites from captivity. We’ve come a long way in how we worship and even what instruments we use, but the foundation hasn’t changed. Our bands love leading people in worship of our God. If God has gifted you with musical ability, we encourage you to try out for our band and use the gift that God has given you to serve Him!
Coffee & Hospitality Team
Everyone loves a good cup of coffee, and we love serving it up! Whether it’s the early-morning coffee prep team, the mid-service refilling crew, or the speciality coffee and espresso drinks cart, this team is a great way to bring a smile to everyone’s face! No barista experience needed, we’ll train you!
Safety Team
A huge part of making people feel welcome and comfortable is making sure that our facility is secure and the congregation has a safe place to worship. Our safety team exists to serve the people first and foremost. If you have a background in law enforcement, military, private security, or are a medical practitioner, this team may be the perfect opportunity for you to serve. Like Reliance Kids, our security team must clear a background check before serving in this capacity.
Parking Team
Our parking team exists to ensure the smooth and safe inflow and outflow of all traffic onto and around the church campus! This team is usually the very first interaction a visitor may have at Reliance, so it’s important to be friendly, welcoming, and helpful! If you don’t mind being outside and putting on a smile, this may be the perfect team for you!
“…To Judea, Samaria, and to the ends of the Earth!”
At Reliance, serving doesn’t just happen on Sunday mornings! There are numerous other ways to get involved and use your gifts for God’s Kingdom through one of these serve teams and specialty ministries that take place outside our church campus:
Street Evangelism
If you would like to share the hope of the Gospel with our community, consider joining the Evangelism Team. This team is for men and women who are filled with the Spirit and are motivated by the love of Christ to make the Gospel known in our city.
U-Turn For Christ
U-Turn for Christ is a Christian residential rehab center dedicated to helping individuals struggling with addiction find healing and lasting recovery through faith-based principles. We have Men’s and Women’s teams that go to the rehab centers to teach the Bible, encourage the program participants & staff, and share testimonies of God’s grace.
Jail Ministry
Our Jail Ministry is a powerful way to share the hope of the gospel with incarcerated men. By teaching God’s word, prayer, and encouragement, we’ve seen much fruit from this small team. Due to the nature of the ministry, this team may not be for everyone and requires an extensive application process, but don’t let that stop you – pray about joining this team!
Oceanside Beach Outreach
If you have a passion for reaching the lost and sharing the hope of the gospel, consider joining the Oceanside Beach Outreach Team. This team is for men and women who are filled with the Spirit and willing to take the good news of Christ “to the end of the earth” (Acts 1:8). No experience needed, we’ll provide the tools and training to effectively share your faith in a “street evangelism” setting.
Missionary Care Team
This team aims to connect Reliance Church with the missionaries it currently supports to bring support and encouragement. The mission field can be a lonely place, sometimes just a friendly email or note of encouragement is all that is needed to keep going. On the other end, hearing from our missionaries and giving the church news, updates, and prayer requests is a unique way to serve the Body of Christ.
Proverbs 24:11
This specialized ministry is aimed toward the marginalized, individuals involved in prostitution/human trafficking, the homeless, the refugees. We hope to reach the unreached within our own communities with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
You can join this team either in an active role, participating in the outreach events; or in a supporting role, committing to praying for the lost and for the teams going out.
Prayer
An often-overlooked way to serve is in prayer! Join us as we gather for Pre-Service prayer every Sunday in the B Building from 6:30am to 7am as we spend time in prayer for the Church services, our community, ministries, families, and anything else as the Lord leads.
